History of the hotel
The land where Summergrove Halls is located once belonged to an impressive Georgian home. With records dating back to the mid 18th century, the house was widely thought to be the best Georgian residence in the country. After a fire unfortunately saw the original building fall into disrepair, it was eventually demolished.
Summergrove still, however, contains some original elements of this history. Most prominently, the hotel’s sandstone entrance gates remain from the original manor house. Summergrove Halls has also been named in homage to the original residence.
The hotel originally functioned as a place of short and long term accommodation for British Nuclear Fuels graduates and professionals in the 1980s. It has increasingly come to serve a wide range of national and international guests as the area has become a popular tourist location, with the 2014 re-launch that introduced a modern design cementing this transition.
