History of the hotel
The land where Summergrove Halls is located once belonged to an impressive Georgian home. With records dating back to the mid 18th century, the house was widely thought to be the best Georgian residence in the country. After a fire unfortunately saw the original building fall into disrepair, it was eventually demolished.
Despite this, however, there are still some reminders of the site’s history at Summergrove. Most prominently, the hotel’s sandstone entrance gates remain from the original manor house. Summergrove Halls has also been named in homage to the original residence.
The hotel has been operating since the 1980s, originally functioning as a short and long term accommodation for British Nuclear Fuels graduates and professionals. Since then, Summergrove has become a popular hotel amongst holiday goers that are drawn to the region, with the hotel refurbishment in 2014 establishing this transition with a new modern design.
