History of the hotel
The land where Summergrove Halls is located once belonged to an impressive Georgian home. With its records dating back as far as the mid 18th century, the residence was widely considered to be one of the most impressive in the country. After a fire unfortunately saw the original building fall into disrepair, it was eventually demolished.
There are still, however, parts of this history found throughout Summergrove. Most prominently, the hotel’s sandstone entrance gates remain from the original manor house. Summergrove Halls has also been named in homage to the original residence.
The hotel originally functioned as a place of short and long term accommodation for British Nuclear Fuels graduates and professionals in the 1980s. Since then, Summergrove has become a popular hotel amongst holiday goers that are drawn to the region, with the hotel refurbishment in 2014 establishing this transition with a new modern design.
